2012 Optimist Excellence Cup International AECIO Trophy




NOTICE OF SERIES
The following regattas constitute the 2012 EXCELLENCE TROPHY

Trofeo AECIO............................RCN Gran Canaria, 26-29 December 2012.

1 Organizing Authority
The Organizing Authority will be made up of International Optimist Class Spanish Association (AECIO) and the Organizing Authorities of the five regattas constituting the 2012 Optimist Excellence Cup (OEC).
2 RULES
2.1 The regattas of the OPTIMIST EXCELLENCE CUP (OEC) series will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2.2 No national prescriptions will apply. 2.3 Appendix P, Immediate Penalties for Breaking Rule 42, will apply.
3 ADVERTISING
3.1 Competitors may be required to carry a bow number and advertising for OEC and regatta sponsors.
4 ELEGIBILITY
4.1 The Championship is open to competitors sailing on boats of the Optimist class. 4.2 Each sailor shall be member of the National Association member of IODA.
5 FEES
5.1 The entry fees for each regatta will be determined in the Notice of Race for each regatta.
6 FORMAT OF COMPETITION
6.1 With more than 100 entries, the fleet will be divided in divisions (as far as possible with the same number of boats). 6.2 The allocation to divisions will be done by the Race Committee at the closing of entry with the list of competitors already registered by that time.Competitors registering later will be added at the bottom of the sorted list in the order of registration.
7 SCHEDULE
7.1 On-site registration: Competitors and Team Leaders shall complete on-site Registration at the Race Office as described in the Notice of Race of each regatta.
Each crew shall give at the Registration Office:
- Racing License and/or insurance if required by the regatta Notice of Race.
- Measurement Certificate. 
- Original Insurance Certificate. 
- Parental authorization.
7.2 The schedule shall be stated in the Notice of Race of each regatta. 7.3 The number of races scheduled for each event shall be stated in the Notice of Race of each regatta. 7.4 The scheduled time for the warning signal for each event shall be stated in the Notice of Race of each regatta.
8 MEASUREMENT
8.1 Each boat shall have a valid measurement certificate. Boats shall use the approved Nationality Code Letters in their sails as required by RRS. 8.2 Before final entry boats and equipment may be subject to equipment control.
9 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available at the moment of the registration at each regatta.
10 VENUE
As stated in the Notice of Race of each regatta.
11 THE COURSES
The courses will be Trapezoid with the Finish to upwind.
12 SCORING
12.1 Regatta scoring system
As stated in the Notice of Race of each regatta.
12.2 OEC Series scoring system In each event, only the 30% boats of the number of entries, ranked highest in the overall ranking of the regatta will be scored. For example with 100 entries, the first will be scored 30 points, second 29, etc...and thirtieth 1 point.
The OEC Series score for a boat will be the sum of all the 5 regattas scores, with
no discard.
13 SUPPORT BOATS
Each support/coach is required to register as described in the Notice of Race of each regatta.
14 BERTHING
Competitors shall follow requirements described in the Notice of Race of each regatta.
15 PRIZES
15.1 In each regatta, medals will be awarded to the top 10 boats. 15.2 The Spanish Association of the International Optimist Class (AECIO) will award prizes at least to the top 5 in the OEC Series. Prizes, timing and location of the OEC prize giving will be announced by AECIO.
16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regattas of the OEC series entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to during, or after the regatta.
17 INSURANCE
Each crew must hold third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 300,000 Euros. The document shown shall be the original issued by the insurance company.
18 CHARTER BOATS
A reduced number of charter boats are available in each regatta. For more information see the notice of race of each regatta.
19 FURTHER INFORMATION
All the relevant information of the 2012 Optimist Excellence Cup will be posted on the official web site of the circuit, http://optimistcup.regataestrella.com/; and on the web site of each regatta.
